LENNOX HOYTE MD, MSEECS
Dr. Hoyte is a Board Certified OB/Gyn and Fellowship Trained sub-specialist in Urogynecology and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reproductive Surgery (FPMRS). He is Associate Professor and Director of Urogynecology and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of South Florida in Tampa. He is an attending urogynecologist at the Tampa General Hospital, and director of urogynecology and the pelvic floor disorders group at TGH. Dr. Hoyte has participated in multiple research studies and is the author of Prolapse Repair: A Guide for Patients and Their Families as well as Robotic Hysterectomy. He received his Masters degree in Electrical engineering and Computer science from MIT, and his MD degree from Stanford Medical School. He received OB/Gyn Residency training from Brigham and Women's and Massachussetts General Hospitals in Boston, and completed formal fellowship training in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). Dr. Hoyte is also an elected member of the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons.
ROGER R. DMOCHOWSKI MD, MMHC, FACS
Dr. Dmochowski is a Professor at the Department of Urology at Vanderbilt University in Nashville and Director of the Section of Female Pelvic Medicine and supervisor of the Fellowship in Pelvic Medicine at Vanderbilt. He is also Clinical Assistant Professor in Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland and holds additional positions as Vice Chair, Section of Surgical Sciences Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Associate Director of Quality and Safety, Vanderbilt Health System, Executive Director of Risk Prevention for Vanderbilt Health System, Executive Medical Director for Patient Safety and Quality (Surgery),Associate Chief of Staff, and Medical Director of Risk Management at Vanderbilt University Hospital.
Dr. Dmochowski received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He completed an internship and residency in surgery and urology at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston and at the M.D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute in Texas. In addition, Dr. Dmochowski is subspecialty fellowship trained in female urology, neurourology, urodynamics and reconstructive urology. He is board certified in urology.
Dr. Dmochowski has published more than 230 articles and 68 book chapters, and 340 abstracts, and has given over 230 presentations at various national and international meetings. He has been featured in videotapes and CD-ROMS on the management of urinary incontinence. Dr. Dmochowski is on the editorial board for the World Journal of Urology, Neurourology and Urodynamics, and International Journal of Urogynecology and the AUA Office of Education CD-ROM Series, and he is a reviewer for the Journal of Urology, and Urology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Urological Association and International Continence Society. Dr. Dmochowski has been granted the Zimskind Award from the Urodynamics Society for his accomplishment in clinical treatment for incontinence. His current research interests are outcomes of incontinence therapies with a particular emphasis on quality of life issues. He also is active in bio materials evaluation.
S. ABBAS SHOBIERI, MD, MBA, FACOG, FACS, CMPE
Dr. Abbas Shobeiri is a gynecologic surgeon board certified in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. He has over 22 years of clinical experience. He is an expert in management of obstetric perineal and pelvic floor injury, 3D ultrasound imaging of pelvic floor, management of vaginal agenesis or stenosis, ultrasound imaging and management of vaginal mesh.
Dr. Shobeiri is a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Virginia Commonwealth University, George Washington University, and is also a professor of cell biology and anatomy at OUHSC. Dr. Shobeiri is the vice chair of gynecologic subspecialties at Inova Fairfax Hospital.
Dr. Shobeiri has authored more than 100 scientific articles, authored many book chapters, and is the editor of Practical Pelvic Floor Ultrasonography: A Multicompartment Approach. His work in pelvic floor imaging and complex pelvic floor repair draws patients nationally and internationally who require specialized management. His work has directly and indirectly helped numerous patients and providers.
Among his professional affiliations are National Center of Excellence for Pelvic Floor Disorders, Pelvic Floor Research Laboratory, chairman, Ultrasound Workshop, International Urogynecological Association, International Continence Society and American Urogynecologic Society.
BETH SHELLY PT, DPT, WCS, BDB PMD, DOCTOR OF PHYSICAL THERAPY
Beth Shelly is a Doctor of Physical Therapy board certified in women's health and biofeedback for pelvic floor dysfunction. She has practiced for over twenty years, specializing in women's and men's health. Dr. Shelly graduated from Northeastern University suma cum laude in 1985. She has been in the field of women's health since her graduation working in a variety of settings including hospital based in and out patient and free standing clinics. Dr. Shelly spent five years at Maternal and Child Health Center in Cambridge MA, working with Hollis Herman and another five years at Women's Hospital in Baton Rouge LA. She moved to the Quad Cities of Illinois and Iowa in 2000. Dr. Shelly completed her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at St. Ambrose University in Davenport IA in 2007 with the completion of her research in the methods PTs use to learn PFM examination. She is widely recognized in her field and is the 2007 recipient of the Elizabeth Noble award for leadership and dedication from the Section on Women's Health of the American Physical Therapy Association.
VIKAS SHAH MBBS FRCR, RADIOLOGIST
Dr Vikas Shah is a Consultant Radiologist based in Leicester in the UK. He attained an undergraduate degree with First Class Honours in Molecular Medicine from University College London, and undertook his undergraduate medical training at Royal Free and University College Medical School in London. He subsequently completed postgraduate internal medicine training and is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians. Dr Shah then trained in radiology at the Imperial College Healthcare group of hospitals in London. Following board certification by the Royal College of Radiologists, he undertook specialist training in abdominal and pelvic floor radiology, the latter at Charing Cross and St Marks Hospitals, in London. This included endoanal ultrasound, and both X-ray and MRI proctography. In 2011, Dr Shah commenced in post as a Consultant Radiologist at the University Hospitals of Leicester. He has continued to develop his role in pelvic floor radiology, and has been instrumental in the development of a combined urogynaecology/colorectal surgery pelvic floor meeting to discuss the radiology and management options for people with complex pelvic floor issues. He is a member of the British Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology and the National Pelvic Floor society.
JAVIER PIZARRO-BERDICHEVSKY MD
Dr. Javier Pizarro-Berdichevsky is an Assistant Professor of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Division, Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile. He also works as an Urogynecologist at Dr. Soterodel Rio Hospital, the largest Chilean public hospital. Dr. Pizarro-Berdichevsky joined the Glickman Urological and Kidney Institute of Cleveland Clinic as a research scholar from 2012 to 2014. He worked for 2 years in stem cell therapy for pelvic organ prolapse with groundbreaking results. In 2014 he was recruited for a clinical fellowship position at the Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS) section of the urology department.
Dr. Pizarro-Berdichevsky’s contributions to the scientific community includes over 20 publications in peer-reviewed journals, 63 abstracts and 18 meeting presentations. His work includes reviving an old but highly successive colpocleisis technique, the validation of a Spanish QOL questionnaire, a prospective study for non-surgical management of prolapse, and a survey to understand surgeons' attitudes towards sling tensioning during surgery for female stress urinary incontinence. His on-going projects including the natural history of symptomatic prolapse generate understanding of pelvic floor function and pathophysiology. He currently is the principal investigator for more than 10 funded clinical research projects. Dr. Pizarro-Berdichevsky is the lead chair of a Latin American comprehensive, multi-center Urogynecologic and Pelvic Floor Disorders Clinical Database Project Committee for International Urogynecological Association (IUGA). Additionally he is a Reviewer for the International Urogynecology Journal, Neurourology and Urodynamics Journal, and RevistaChilena de Obstetricia y Ginecologia (Chilean Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology).
ALI BORAZJANI BS, PHD
Ali Borazjani is the President & Co-founder of GIRHL (Global Innovations for Reproductive Health and Life), a nonprofit organization devoted to alleviating disparities in women's health through research and innovation. Additionally, he serves as the Chief Scientific Officer of Innometrix, a biomedical engineering firm developing medical devices aimed at improving the treatment of pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence. Ali has authored and co-authored over three dozen scientific abstracts and journal publications; he has Bachelor's degrees from Mississippi State University in bioengineering and biological sciences. Ali is a recipient of the National Science Foundation's Graduate Fellowship Research Award and is currently completing research training with a focus on pelvic organ prolapse and female pelvic floor disorders at the Cleveland Clinic prior to beginning medical school. Additionally, Ali is a reviewer for the International Urogynecology Journal, PlosONE, and the Journal for Rehabilitation Research & Development.
