The best way to find your PC muscle is to wash your hands thoroughly and insert one or two fingers into the vagina and try to squeeze down around them. When you feel your muscles tightening around your finger you are squeezing your PC muscle. Another way to locate the PC is to stop the flow of urine while you're peeing (do not do this on a regular basis, do it once only to locate the contraction sensation.) Like other muscles in the body, PC muscles can become weak for a variety of reasons, vaginal childbirth, menopause, neuromuscular diseases, or radiation treatments can impact PC strength and integrity. Additionally a variety of activities and conditions like chronic constipation or coughing, heavy lifting, DRA (diastatus rectus abdominus), hysterectomy, and running, jogging, or aggressive aerobics are additional risk factors for pelvic floor weakness.
